Q: The Federal Government said I shouldn’t pay anything for COVID-19 testing
A: The Federal government only has jurisdiction for federal guidelines. Some insurances are exempt from federal guidelines.
Q: The State of New Jersey says I don’t need to pay for this test, do I?
A: The State of New Jersey does not regulate self funded or federal health plans. Due to the constant changes and regulations we ask you to call your plan for coverage detail information.
Q: What is patient cost sharing?
A: Patient Cost Sharing is the cost that you pay out of your own pocket for medical services not covered by insurance. This includes your copay, coinsurance and deductible. During this Public Health Emergency some insurance carriers have agreed to pay for the patient cost sharing for COVID-19 testing.
Q: What do I do if I get a bill related to COVID-19 visit?
A: If your insurance plan has agreed to pay for the patient cost share but did not process the claim accordingly, we ask that you contact your plan’s member service (phone number located on the back of your insurance card) and have them reprocess your claim.
